About

Your photographer-
photo by Alexus V. edited by me.
Hello there, my name is Brenda Schaefer. I am the owner and face behind the camera at Brenda Schaefer Photography. I started this dream of mine in 2008 and I'm thankful every day that I can be doing what I love for a living. It is one of the most exciting and rewarding jobs ever.
I have always been interested in photography as a hobby. I became more serious about it in high school- getting on the Annual and Newspaper staff. I shoot with a Nikon D90 (I also have one as a backup) and have several lenses and lighting equipment. I also have an addiction to props. I have to have a seperate storage room for them because, well, most of the time I just can't say no! Everything I see I think to myself, "Could I put a baby in that?!"
When I am not working I am usually spending time with my baby girl, who is growing like a weed and I just can't keep up. No longer a baby she is entering the toddler stage. She is one of my inspirations and reasons I am where I am at today. I am also the wife to an amazing man. He has always believed in me and supports my dreams.
I love photography so much because it is an amazing medium in which you can capture emotions. Not only that, but it is wonderful to be able to capture what is real. Real emotion and personality is the goal for my sessions. I love those traditional poses but I also try and capture the candid moments in between. If I have caught that in a session than I can feel happy about my work. I like to think that I see things a different way. I am always looking around and thinking of how I can get a picture somewhere. I look around and see everything is so beautiful.
My home studio set up. Finally having my own space has been amazing! It allows for an easy workflow and refuge from the rain in this beautiful rainy state.

My husband and I live in Woodland, Washington. I have a home studio that is geared towards newborns and babies. I love shooting locally but am willing to travel for sessions. If you have ideas I am open to try them. I love to try new things in the field and I learn more and more everyday about photography. I honestly believe that there will never be a day when I could stop learning things. I am very easy going and friendly. If you are interested in doing a shoot contact me, I can't wait to meet you!
This is my inspiration- also my most difficult client. She has helped me to grow as a photographer being my model to practice on.

Photographing newborns is one of my specialties.

I am willing to climb anything to get a great shot.

I have many props and love to try original and new ideas.
